Dossier[]
Dossier #01: The Silent Sprinter[]
It only took one snide remark to turn her away from being a part of a team: If you're just going to do everything solo, then why are you even playing a tam sport?
Cha Hae-In silently watched her team members for a moment, then turned away. From that day forward, she ran alone.
Whenever she became out of breathe, her heart would find calm. There was no one to disappoint and no one she had to be mindful of.
Her expressionless face and unchanging posture eventually became her armor.
She didn't need a reason to run. All that mattered was moving forward, further than before.
Running was a silent exercise, and only in those wordless moments did she find real solace.
Dossier #02: The Voice Beyond the Sword[]
Farther and farther she went, quietly growing at her own pace. Before she knew it, people started to take notice. With her strong performance in international competitions, she became known as "the hope of Korean track and field."
But beyond the track, the world was falling apart. Gates opened, magic beasts appeared, and awakening beings emerged. As beings with supernatural powers began to surpass normal human capabilities, sports were forgotten by the masses.
Even as the world changed, Hae-In continued to push forward. Her drive was the only thing that remained the same.
That day was just like an other. Screams suddenly echoed through the heart of the city. Even as people screamed and ran, she stood still.
And then, she thought, "Where do I strike to bring it down?"
It was the same old calculations. She replayed the scene in her mind countless times. Her body moved of its own accord.
Dozens of swords split the sky, bringing down the massive magic beasts. Her thoughts instantly turned into action. Her body executed the strategy, and the result was flawless.
She had awakened. Moreover, she adapted quickly, accurately, and without anyone's help. She could handle it on her own.
Dossier #03: A Commander in the Making[]
The world turned its eyes to her once again. An S-Rank at only 17 years old. Unthinkable physical abilities and a laser-sharp strategic mind.
Her movements across the battlefield seemed almost like a dance. Without a single command, dozens of manifested swords moved in perfect, silent synchronicity.
But one day, a magic beast appeared that her swords couldn't harm. Her attacks were ineffective, and that dance turned to chaos in an instant.
"Swords won't do anything against this. We have to fall back now!"
"...If I fall back, all of you will die. Don't get in my way. Just stay back and wait."
Her voice was sharp and direct. There wasn't a hint of hesitation.
In arguments, there was always a way to talk through the disagreement, no matter how vast the gulf between people. Battles were different. Just as fire cannot be extinguished with fire, some magic beasts would never yield to the wrong power.
Hae-In eventually retreated. All she could do was defend against the deadly attacks. Their formation had fallen apart, screams filled the air, and the wounded kept growing in numbers.
"If you want to live, do exactly as I say."
In that moment, she ceased to be a lone fighter navigating the battlefield and became their commander.
Dossier #04: The Tactic of Synergy[]
The survivng strike squad members bowed to Hae-In before leaving the site. Their worn and weary faces showed a deep sense of relief and gratitude.
Hae-In couldn't understand the gesture. She had simply analyzed everyone's abilities and issued the most appropriate commands. Who was it that was missing something? Was it her, or them?
Left alone, Hae-In looked at the bodies of the other strike squad members as they were carried away, one by one. Then, suddenly, she recalled the days of her youth; times when she observed her team members' movements and developed strategies tailored to them, and the joy and cheers that filled the air when those strategies worked.
She didn't know it back then. She thought she was just content because her plan succeeded, never considering where that emotion stemmed from.
But maybe, it came form the fact that they "worked together."
She didn't entirely grasp the sentiment, but one thing was becoming clear...
Working together was better than working alone. Slowly but surely, Hae-In was realizing the truth.
Dossier #05: The Valkyrie[]
She didn't have to be alone. She could recognize the potential in others and lead them to positions where they could truly shine.
Though her face didn't change, a change had taken place within. Hae-In started to truly understand herself. This was what she really wanted...
She didn't want to keep fighting alone. She wanted a team that could move as one, united in purpose, to carve out a flawless victory.
And to this day, she takes up her blade to achieve that goal.
Commander Cha Hae-In's real battle begins now.
