Dossier[]
Dossier #01: Precocious[]
Growing up is a fact of life. So if the responsibility that comes with it.
Everyone who grows up becomes an adult, but Han Se-Mi was hardly grown before she began acting like one. No... before she had no choice but to become an adult.
Her parents were researching studying gates and magic beasts. Since gates appeared all over the world, they were constantly busy traveling back and forth between Korea and other countries.
As time passed, their acumen and reputations grew, but the time they could spend with their family was diminished. Soon, Se-Mi and her four younger siblings were more accustomed to life without their parents.
Naturally, since Han Se-Mi was the eldest, she became the de facto had of the household. She was so busy caring for her siblings, that she didn't have a personal life. But when she thought about how far her parents had to go for their work, their sacrifice felt necessary.
Dossier #02: A Thorn[]
Endless sacrifice without reward leaves scars, and gradually, Se-Mi's emotional wounds began to fester.
Se-Mi's sweet little siblings would always listen to her- better than they listened to the parents they could hardly remember- but she was still a student who made mistakes.
She longed for time to herself. "For just one day," she thought "I wish I could lie in bed and laze around."
However, she wouldn't dare vent her dissatisfaction near her siblings. She kept the unutterable words to herself.
"I'm tired of living this way, too."
The weight of that thought pained her to carry and drove her to frustration.
She often thought of her parents' faces. Her parents were out there risking their lives for the benefit of society...
...and she would think to herself "Right"
Dossier #03: Sacrifice[]
It wasn't long before the Dungeon Break know as the "Evaporation Incident" occurred. her parents tragically disappeared.
Se-Mi regretted keeping her burdens to herself. If she had been a little childish and asked them to come home, would her parents have been there? If she had done that, wouldn't her family have been happy and whole?
But she didn't have time to wallow. She had to take care of not only herself, but her siblings who looked up to her.
having become the official head of the household, she couldn't let them see her tears. She had to swallow fears and continue moving forward.
Dossier #04: Her Universe[]
"If they lose me, too..."
She often thought about that. If she disappeared, who would care for them?
How would they live?
Half her heart throbbed with anxiety, while the other kept repeating:
"Let's stay calm and be realistic."
And that's when she started writing. It started with simple, practical notes.
She wrote down the essential information for it and when someone had to take care of her siblings in her place. Then after writing everything she could about her younger siblings, she started writing about herself in journal entries as well as letters.
Feelings she couldn't express out loud were often relieved by putting them into words.
Her notebook became her little world, containing everything about her.
Dossier #05: The Hero They Need[]
Since her parents disappeared, Se-Mi had hated both gates and magic beasts from the depths of her heart.
So she was unsure whether to call it a blessing or a curse when she awakened.
Her A-Rank powers caught the attention of Son Kihoon, who happened to be visiting the Hunters Association at the time. Se-Mi quickly joined the Hunters Guild, the largest guild in South Korea.
She gained financial stability through her contract and continued searching for her parents in the meantime. But for some reason, the more she investigated, the more nervous she was that she might never see them again.
Despite her worries, she had to seem steadfast and heroic in front of her siblings, so she never let them see how her hope was slipping away.
"Let's get through one more day."
With her notebook tucked in her hand and all the stories it contained seared in her heart, Se-Mi heads into the next dungeon.
