Dossier[]
He leads a private strike squad. Suspicious accidents often occur during raids he particpates in. His younger brother is Hwang Dongsoo, Korea's eighth S-Rank hunter.
Dossier #01: A Base of Bad Luck[]
Hwang Dongsuk, his life was unfortunate.
An unfortunate childhood doesn't inevitably create evil people, but it definitely did for Hwang Dongsuk.
It's a dark and depressing story,
but Hwang Dongsuk's childhood was marked by the death of his parents in a car accident at age 15.
His grandmother then took care of him and his brother Hwang Dongsoo with extreme love and care, but she too, passed away from illness.
The brothers were left all alone in the world.
What made it worse was that the person who caused the death of their parents was never appropriately punished. The day he found out, Hwang Dongsuk cried silently behind his brother's back so his brother wouldn't notice.
Their misfortune.
Poverty was at the base of their bad luck.
As they put on their clothes of mourning for the second time, Hwang Dongsuk resented their poverty.
The young mourner felt an acute pessimism as he stood in an empty funeral parlor.
This pessimism soon spread to a distrust of the world.
Dossier #02: An Innocent Target[]
Was he trying to get revenge on the world?
After this, Hwang Dongsuk's behavior was dotted with evil acts and crimes. His brother Hwang Dongsoo followed in his footsteps.
Hwang Dongsuk was smart. He had endless ideas for illegal schemes, and Hwang Dongsoo was in charge of carrying them out.
Things began to look up and Hwang Dongsuk expanded his scale. He tricked people with flashy words and blamed everything on them once he had the money.
But if you extend your reach too far, somebody's bound to catch you.
Hwang Dongsuk spent a lot of time in jail.
Many of his victims came to vist each day, with tears of rage in their eyes.
He never showed any remorse.
They were weak and foolish.
They were victims because they were poor and powerless.
His rage towards the society that turned its back on him and his brother left him feeling guiltless as Hwang Dongsuk began to loot to survive.
Dossier #03: Chains of Evil[]
Not long after, "ideal places for crime" began springing up...
The gates.
It was a cruel belief, but there wasn't anyone in his life to correct it. Dongsuk couldn't easily shake the allure of evil.
When the gates first appeared, Dongsuk became hopeful that the world could move in the way he wanted.
Before he was deemed an awakened being, he had already been caught for insurance fraud pertaining to "accidents and disasters from magic beasts," and taking money for teaching illegal "awakening lessons" to children dreaming of awakening someday.
After becoming an awakened being, he started a new scheme: taking "bait" into the dungeon with his team to abandon them and reap the maximum gain.
But in the long run, crime never pays.
He had spent his entire life taking from the world, but he was taken from it by the hands of another would-be-victim. It was an unremarkable ending for a villain.
