Dossier #01: Intrusive[]
Isla always carries darkness by her side.
Her eyes have always seemed lost and shaky. Her small shoulders have always remained hunched over. No one knew what she was so afraid of that she hid herself from the world.
Whenever it came time to make a decision, she always hesitated. She couldn't trust her own judgement. Doing things the way she thought was best always ended up with a major accident.
Even just talking to people, things always seemed to end badly. Conversations with her always drove people further away.
So Isla isolated herself more and more. She created her own world.
Dossier #02: Eyes That See the Future[]
She looked into the future through her cards.
She didn't have any special powers then. All she did was standard tarot readings using a deck of cards she made for herself. She would lay out her cards, picked one, and would try to see how it fit the situtation.
Of course, her readings were never correct. Her deck wasn't exactly standard-issue, and the only truths her readings seemed to match were coincidental and due to her readings being vague.
But Isla thought it was just a lack of practice, or maybe that she didn't picture the outcome clearly enough before drawing.
Dossier #03: Reading[]
But two years ago, when Isla when camping with her family, she became convinced of her special powers.
Isla had become reluctant to even leave her house at that point. Her parents forced her to go on the camping trip, but she never left the RV.
Inside, she hoped and prayed desperately that her reading would come true. "Please give me the right cards."
She drew a card. Her face turned pale and her body started trembling.
It was the Death card. The worst possible omen. If her desperate hope for truth was at all reflected in her reading, then something bad was definitely going to happen.
Isla tried to convince her parents that they needed to go back home immediately. Of course, her pleas were dismissed as a rebellious tantrum.
Dossier #04: Power in the Cards[]
But soon, Isla and her family had no choice. A gate was discovered at the campsite.
For the first time in her life, Isla had predicted the future correctly.
Isla had never made decisons on her own. She was timid and dependent on the skills and knowledge of others. She though it would be better for her to not make decisions.
After all, they always came out to the worst possible outcome.
Thanks to blunder after blunder, she was nicknamed "The Cursed Child." The moniker made her even more hesitant to make her decisions. She finally stopped leaving the house entirely to avoid offending anyone.
The chance to finally see a way forward with her cards was very precious to Isla. After the campsite incident, Isla believed that her cards had developed special powers. Her belief began to grow stronger.
Around that time, Isla received a call from a friend she had considered close when attending school. That call made her as happy as knowing her readings were correct.
Dossier #05: The Path of Destiny[]
She just needed to go where her cards were leading her. Since the cards could predict the future, if she could follow their advice, her choices would no longer bring misfortune.
Feeling a deep sense of relief, Isla picked up one of the cards in her spread and determined what they were saying.
"You might encounter unexpected luck two hundred meters away from your home."
The few cards Isla picked up were telling her what she had to do today. Going out alone was still strange and difficult for her, but she decided to try to be brave.
Isla left her house and went exactly two hundred meters.
She arrived in a dead-end alley in a deserted residential area. What was more puzzling still was the wounded girls she found huddled there. This whole situation seemed far from lucky.
The girls were unconscious, their breathing ragged as they bled, hidden behind a giant doll.
"What should I do now...?!"
Isla reached for her cards for guidance.
She drew the Star, which symbolized hope. Isla held the card high and prayed, "Please show me a way to cure them."
At that moment, the card lit up brightly and the same bright light appeared around the girls' bodies. The deep wounds were practically washed away and their breathing became stable.
Was it fate? That's how the "lucky" encounters predicted by her cards began.
