This is the Style Guide for all articles on the Solo Levleing:ARISE Wiki. The wiki primarily uses American English, following the game's English localization, and may adhere to specific rules that differ from other wikis or communities. Please review this page carefully to ensure consistency across the wiki.
If new style issues emerge, additional content will be added to this page.

Article Titles, Sections, and Headings[]
Titles and Headings[]
- Use title case for article titles and section headings, unless the in-game title is not in title case.
- For example, use Shadow Monarch, not Shadow monarch, but A quest to find my father by Jinah Woo.* Page titles must be singular by default; page introductions may be plural if desired.
- For example: Magic Beast, not Magic Beasts.
- Exception are:
- Item names (Instance Dungeon Keys)
- Location names (Dungeons)
- Organization and "organization" names (Hunters Guild, Knights Guild)
- Do not use "A," "An," or "The," as the first word of an article title or section heading, unless it is inseparable or part of the in-game title.
- For example: Gatekeeper, not The Gatekeeper, but The Monarchs and The System
- Do not use links or references in section headings.
- Do not add whitespaces before or after section headings.
- For example:
Section
, not== Section ==
.
- For example:
Redirects[]
- Do not create redirects or disambiguation pages for generic titles, even if they have only ever been used by one character.
- Acceptable: Sung Jin-Woo, Seo Jiwoo
- Not acceptable: Jinwoo
- Do not create redirects for forms of adress.
- Not acceptable: Her Majesty
- Full name and alias redirects of characters should only be made if they are used in in-game material such that a link would be convenient to use.
- Acceptable: Ashborn, Baran
- Not acceptable: Demon King Baran
- For technical reasons, appropriate redirects may be created when any of the following is true of a page name:
- Contains a diacritic
- Begins with any punctuation mark
- Ends with a question mark
Article Content[]
- Bold the first use of the page title in the article, which is typically in the first sentence.
- Do not include links within this bolded portion.
- The usage of most magic words in articles is disallowed, with the exception of the following:
- Behavioral Switches
- __TOC__ — shows the Table of Contents at the position of its usage
- __NOTOC__ — hides the Table of Contents
- Technical Metadata Variables
- — commonly handled by infoboxes
- Page Name Variables, only to be used with subst: to avoid issues on transclusion, should be used inside to avoid HTML entities being left on the article.
- — full page name without namespace (e.g., Module:Talent Upgrade/data → Talent Upgrade/data)
- — full page name with namespace (e.g., Module:Talent Upgrade/data → Module:Talent Upgrade/data)
- — full page name without the lowest subpage (e.g., Sung Jin-Woo/Voice-Overs/Korean → Sung Jin-Woo/Korean)
- — lowest subpage's name (e.g., Sung Jin-Woo/Voice-Overs/Korean → Korean)
- — root page's name (e.g., Sung Jin-Woo/Voice-Overs/Korean → Sung Jin-Woo)
- Behavioral Switches
Vocabulary[]
- Avoid using second person (i.e., "you"). Possible alternatives include using "players" or "the Traveler" or rephrasing the sentence to use passive voice.
- "(If you have completed Becoming a Hunter)" with "(If Becoming a Hunter has been completed)."
- Second person in the form of commands is acceptable in the following cases:
- Navigational aids (e.g., "See also").
- The Lang template should only be used in the introduction sentence for characters whose names are in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, or Thai. The template should contain the name of the character in the corresponding localization.
- Characters whose names are not unambiguously in one of the aforementioned languages.
- Characters whose names are partially translated, such as Sung Jinwoo, should have the template used if the rest of their name is in one of the aforementioned languages.
- Romanization should be included, even if it is the same as the English localization.
- No translations should be included. Translations can be added in Trivia or Etymology instead. For playable characters, these sections are on their Lore subpages.
Italics[]
Italics must be used in the following types of names or titles:
- Achievement categories
- Achievement titles
- Albums
- Book titles
- Quest names
- Act names
- Scientific names
- Ship/vessel names
- Video games
Grammar and Spelling[]
In accordance with the English localization of the game, the Solo Leveling:ARISE Wiki follows the following rules:
- Use the American spelling of words.
- Use the serial comma (also known as the Oxford comma).
- Use "neutral" (straight) quotation marks (" " and ' ', not “ ” and ‘ ’) and apostrophes (', not ’).
- Use double quotation marks for quotations. When nesting quotations, use single quotations. For example: Jinwoo cuts him off with his dialogue: "3, you tried to kill me 3 times, and you beg for mercy?"
- Place commas and periods within the quotation marks. ("Like this," not "like this".) This does not apply to other punctuation.
Date and Numbers[]
- Present dates in the format
YYYY/MM/DD
, orMonth DD, YYYY
when written out. - Present times in the format
HH:MM AM/PM (UTC±X)
. The hour should always include a leading zero when it is a single digit. When presenting a time in the 24-hour clock format, omit the AM/PM. - Delimit numbers exceeding 999 into groups of three digits with a comma.
References[]
- Avoid adding explanatory notes directly into references. Instead, create a separate reference group for these notes and display them separately.
- Typically, the reference group and its section heading should be named "Note" and "Notes," respectively.
- Limit references to a maximum of 2 for the same claim.
- When grouping references or notes together, ensure they are ordered in ascending numerical order. For example, use [2][5] and [Note 2][Note 5], not [5][2] or [Note 5][Note 2]. Numbers are automatically assigned, so previewing the page is recommended to ensure correct order.
- If both references and notes are used, place references before notes, such as [2][Note 1], not [Note 1][2].
- When placing notes from different groups together, maintain the order based on how the lists are invoked. For example, if notes from the "Note" group are listed first and "Assumption" group second, the claim should be formatted as [Note 5][Assumption 3], not [Assumption 3][Note 5].
- Use notes sparingly. Although attaching something like [1][5][Note 2][Note 3][Assumption 2] may be technically correct, there are often better ways to present the information. Consider condensing notes, directing readers to Trivia, or integrating the information into the article body when appropriate.
- Use the Ref template to automate reference formatting for editors. Most in-game items, including quests, have templates available.
